30 x 30 challenge (June 2024) wrap up

July 18, 2024 By Janine Adams 12 Comments

I know this is a little (a lot!) late. But for those of you who participated in the June 2024 challenge to do 30 minutes of genealogy-related endeavor every day for 30 days, how did it go?

I have to beg forgiveness for ignoring the challenge. We finished moving on June 22 and then my husband was hospitalized on June 24 and I haven’t been able to pay attention to much else. Barry is still in the hospital but we’re very hopeful for an excellent, life-changing outcome. In the meantime, it’s a bit stressful.

I haven’t blogged in any of my blogs since the move. (I have two others, my organizing blog and my budgeting blog.) I did manage to get my organizing newsletter out on the 15th, which felt like an achievement.

All that aside, I do care about your progress! Please let me know in the comments how the challenge worked out for you and whether you’d like to see another one in the near future.

    Janine,
I’m so sorry to hear of your husband’s health concerns. My for healing and “soon return” home.

June 30×30 was successful — averaging 2.5 hr daily and Excel research logs converted to Airtable. I’ve continued the challenge into July.

Thank you for this challenge — it truly is the “push” I need to get things done!

Janine, I find it amazing that you could even get this message posted considering all the stress you have been experiencing. I have prayed for you and your husband; I know he will return to full health very soon.
My June 30X30 was not my best effort. We all know that sometimes our daily journey doesn’t go as planned.
However, in my research I was able to break down a wall that has been in the way since I began my genealogy research in 2010. I discovered that a great uncle was in the French Foreign Legion.

I am sorry to read of your husbands serious health issues and hope he steadily recovers and is able to come home. It will be an extremely difficult time for you both, especially right after your major move.

I was unable to do the challenge, but do enjoy reading your blog posts. I am sure those who follow your blogs will continue to support you and wish you both well. Hang in there.

Oh Janine, what a month it has been for you! I just said a prayer for you and your husband. I didn’t participate in June due to family health issues. I hope you can make some time for yourself to take a deep breath and get outside.

Prayers for your husband’s recovery and for you too. I’m trying to weed through papers at home and organize myself at my volunteer genealogy job at the local historical society.

I’m sorry that I didn’t see your post sooner, and I hope that you and Barry are doing well…and getting chance to settle in. A younger cousin has been helping me organize my apartment, and it certainly is physically demanding. I salute those of you who do it on a daily basis. You’re making the world a better place.

I’m sorry to hear about your husband’s health and am hoping for a good outcome! We were gone about half of June so didn’t participate this time but have tried to find several days each week on researching and writing a narrative about my mother’s grandparents for my genealogy blog. I’ve also been scanning old photos of members of this family that I’ve found in several boxes. Slow but steady progress. I’ll be keeping your husband in my prayers. Z

Janine, I didn’t see your June challenge but I’m going to give it a try the 30 day challenge starting on Monday, August 5th. My sister has been asking me genealogy questions so now I’m on the quest for information to answer her questions.

You are extraordinary in giving of yourself and need the fuel of self care. Haven’t been able to do your challenges, but enjoy reading your posts so very much. They have been so helpful and motivating in every day life as well as genealogy. Your dedication is appreciated by so many.
