It’s the end of another 30 x 30 challenge! How did it go? Please use the comments to let us know how your challenge went.
I had a good month and the challenge certainly helped me prioritize genealogy research. (I’m so grateful for that!) I didn’t research every day–I missed four days total. But I was able to have a few sessions that were longer than 30 minutes, so my average was 37 minutes a day for the 30 days.
I started the month with a 20-document backlog of documents to be processed. In the first five days of the challenge, I focused on processing those documents and got the backlog down to 3. Then I found I needed to do a little more research, which added documents to the backlog, so it wasn’t until August 12 that I got my backlog completely eliminated. Then I went to town researching a particular collateral family group in my Rasco line and my backlog ballooned to as high as 32. Here we are at month’s end, and I still have 27 documents in my backlog. I hope to eliminate that by the end of September (though I’m not starting a new challenge until October).
I also spent a couple of sessions on the box of inherited documents I’m working on. All in all, it was a fun month combining new research with processing the documents from prior sessions. Doing daily research is so helpful to me and I hope to stick with it in the coming month!
How was your month? Please let us know in the comments!

I’m excited about my Aug 30 x 30 challenge accomplishments. I added my paternal grandfather’s line with sources to my Legacy Family Tree. This included collateral family members also. Adding the sources included processing and transcribing documents that needed to be. Fortunately, I was able to carve out a significant amount of time for this project averaging about 2.5 hours daily.
I plan to continue in September and work on my paternal grandmother’s line.

Thanks amazing, Gwen! I’m glad it was such a great month. Here’s to a great September!

I managed to meet the challenge and don’t least 30 minutes a day. This month I primarily focused on obtaining genealogical data for my wife’s nephew. He has an interest in his family history. I am not sure if he really wants to do research. I am still inputting the genealogy data I obtained on his parents and grandparents. I did locate via find a grave a photo of the nephews grandmother that he never had. She died when she was only 30. Also, I sent an e-mail to the cemetery where my dad had purchased a plot in 1941. It will be interesting to see their response. It has been a great month. I think my direct ancestors are calling me to do more research on them.

So glad you had a great month, Jerry! I think all your hard work helping yiur wife’s nephew should garner you the reward of some research on your direct ancestors. 🙂

I managed to do a little a day, though not 30 mins. I still haven’t fully narrowed down the ancestor I was looking for, but have eliminated one or two as not being him! I hope to continue with the small progress I have made and improve over September.
Janine Adams says
Slow and steady wins race, Missy! Every person you eliminate as an ancestor if progress! I hope you have a great September.

I only managed to do just over the equivalent of four days of genealogy research this month. However, I did the equivalent of 30 minutes a day for all 31 days of genealogy coursework so I call that a success!
Janine Adams says
Absolutely that’s a success. Congrats!
