It’s January 31 already! How was your month? Some aspects of my January were great. I participated in Yoga with Adriene’s 30-day yoga journey and did each at-home yoga practice daily without fail. And I met my goal of closing my fitness rings on my Apple Watch every day. My month was focused on health and fitness, not genealogy. So I can report a successful month.
What about your genealogy research? Did your 30 x 30 genealogy challenge go well? Were you able to meet your goals? Did you make any fun discoveries? Please share all in the comments to this post. That wraps it up for this challenge. I plan to do a new 30 x 30 challenge every two or three months, but of course you can always do one on your own!
I look forward to hearing how everything went!

I had a much busier month than I expected and thought I would be way over the target goal. That didn’t happen but I did make 30 x 30. thank you for helping keep me on track.
Janine Adams says
Great job, Linda! Glad you got a lot done despite it being a busy month.
Donna Gillett Gehring says
I managed to stay on goal with a variety of activities: research, renaming my confused collection of saved documents, and even setting up a dedicated desk where I can work. Still not enough room to keep everything in one place, but enough to work on one or two projects at a time.
Janine Adams says
Congrats, Donna!!

Had a good month with genealogy. I averaged about 45 minutes per day. My goal for January was to start tackling the 1790 – 1840 U S Census. I completed the 1840 and I am starting the 1830. I plan to work on the census for the next two or three months. So far I have not been able to locate a few of my ancestors. I have an excel spread sheet for the census and I indicate on it if I found the ancestor and what state they lived in. For the ancestors that I cannot find, I indicate that further research is required. I noticed for a few of my ancestors, other individuals had posted a copy of their census, but I was not sure if they had the correct individual so I decided to further research before I included the copy of the census in my genealogy. Congratulations on completing the 30 day yoga challenge.

Congratulations on your genealogy accomplishments, Jerry!

Even though I averaged 1 hour/day, I didn’t”t meet my original goal. Ten days ago my computer “bit the dust” and I could not access the internet. I will continue the 30 x 30 challenge in February.
Janine Adams says
It’s so painful when our computers die. I hope you’re either able to repair it or that the transition to a new one isn’t too difficult. Good luck with your February 30 x 30 continuation! And congrats on averaging an hour a day for the first 20 days.

Janine, thank you for organizing this challenge. I had a great month; even though I didn’t get 30 minutes daily, my overall hours exceeded that. The best thing from this challenge is realizing that my family will be more engaged with our roots if I make our direct descendants ‘more real’ than just names and dates on a page. Now, I am writing out the information I have about them in more of a story form that I can share along with our family tree.
Janine Adams says
Michele, it’s fantastic that you’re finding a way to engage your family with your roots! Bravo on the work you got done in January.
Linda Schrom says
I’m going to continue the challenge now that I’m in the habit of doing it every day. My plan is to spend a few minutes organizing, and then do some of the fun stuff that I enjoy. Congratulations on meeting your health and fitness goals this month!

I really ended up focusing on learning about how to participate in WikiTree events and using my increased knowledge of source citations to contribute there. I’m still due to do my MacEntee “Do-Over!” I need to get with it preparing for a trip to Salt Lake City in the spring for a 6 day hosted research event!
Janine Adams says
That sounds like an excellent month. Your upcoming trip to SLC sounds amazing!
