It’s the middle of March and we’re in the middle of a 30 x 30 challenge. Now’s your chance to let us know it’s going for you!
I have to admit that it is not going well for me. At all. I’ve been very busy with organizing clients (yay!) and my spare time seems to be spent obsessing over the current COVID-19 crisis. I’m spending more time than I should, probably, reading and stressing. I think I’d be better off focusing on my ancestors, but that’s just not happening. (Today over on my organizing blog, I wrote about making the most of your time at home; I should take my own advice and do more family history research!)
I sincerely hope that it’s going better for you and that I have a better report at the end of the month–I haven’t given up! Please let us know how your challenge is going!
Linda Stufflebean says
I am actually making some progress on my renaming/reattaching images project. Slow going as I need to set up some sub-folders and then move ahead. However, alphabetically, the A surnames and part of the Bs are finished. A is a biggie because my mom’s maiden name was Adams and I have hundreds of items in that folder. So far, I am ahead of 30 x 30 in hours. 🙂
Janine Adams says
I’m impressed that you’re ahead of your 30 x 30 hours, Linda! I love your systematic approach to your project. Knowing your mother’s maiden name was Adams makes me curious whether we’re related! 🙂

So far I have been making my 30 minute a day. Actually, since I have been staying home more to stay away from crowds I have exceeded my 30 minute day. I have been alternating on working on some of my carryover To Do from 2019 and doing some of my current goals. Earlier this month I attended a local conference to hear Paul Woodbury. Enjoyed his talk. I am trying not to freak out about the COVID-19 crisis. I think working on genealogy helps.
Janine Adams says
Great job, Jerry. I agree that genealogy research is a comfort during these strange times.
Trisha says
I’m doing well. I have been finding all of my family notes from family visits and putting them with the families. I am finding amazing things that will give me plenty of things to do. Next is going to be to fill in blanks on timelines with the new information.
Janine Adams says
That’s great, Trisha. Sounds like you’re having lots of fun. Hooray!
Terry says
Since we’re supposed to shelter at home, practice social distancing, and cancel all groups activities larger than 10 people there is a lot of help in staying some and doing genealogy.
Janine Adams says
You’re right, Terry. I think staying in to stay healthy is a lot easier for genealogists than for others!
Gwen Jackson says
Even though I haven’t worked on my project each of the 15 days, I have exceeded the number of hours/minutes. In addition to working on the locations where my grandfather lived, I attended the NCGS virtual conference this weekend.
Janine Adams says
Fantastic, Gwen!
Mary says
I was working on getting things ready for a family reunion that was a year in the making. However, we cancelled it yesterday due to the virus. I’m going to rethink my plan this weekend. In the meantime, I’m catching up on some webinars.
Janine Adams says
Sorry to hear that your family reunion was canceled, Mary. This is the new reality. My husband’s family has a reunion scheduled in June and I’m anticipating a cancellation.
